Saying Hello!

It’s been a long time coming, I guess, but that doesn’t make me feel any less weird creating a website that declares me to be an author when I have yet to publish anything aside from some fanfiction I posted sometime between 2008 and 2010. Writer? Absolutely! I’ve been writing since I could hold a pencil in my hand. But “author” seems so official. And official isn’t something I can claim yet. I have no editor. I have no agent. I have finished two novels in my lifetime that I could never publish because I don’t own the worlds or characters found in them. I have two partial novels in the works that people say have potential. I have a whole lot of dreams. Retirement from teaching looms in my (hopefully) near future, and when asked what I want to do with my time away from work, I say a lot of things. But my heart shouts, “I want to write!” As these things don’t happen overnight, I feel now is the time to start building the world of writing I want to live in when the time comes. Maybe it’ll happen. Maybe it won’t. But I don’t want to look back on a life lived and have to say that I wish I had tried. I am a writer. I just hope I have something to write that people will want to read. More than that, I hope I can use the desire God put in me to be a voice for Him. That is why I’ve decided to pursue writing for the Christian market. I want to write stories that have perfectly flawed characters. I want see them push the boundaries in their own lives and learn the lessons we all need to learn. I want them to point the reader toward Christ and show how a life walked with Him is never wasted. I want to share my love for my Savior to those who already know Him, and to those who have yet to feel what it’s like when He draws near.

So, this is my hello to everyone who has decided to join me here at the beginning, and to anyone who reads this months from now or beyond. I’m glad you’re here.
